June Study - Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer

Oil on Canvas - 17.5in x 15 in - circa 1665
Kept in the Mauritshuis Gallery in The Hague
Sometimes referred to as the "Mona Lisa of the North" or "the Dutch Mona Lisa"

Hi everyone!  Please humor me this month, it's my birthday month!  This has to be one of my favorite paintings of all times...
Do your best and if you have trouble with the face, just keep it blank and do the rest.  It's meant to be a fun exercise, not a chore!  Have fun with it!

A beautiful rendition by Adrie, great job!

May Study - Fishing Boats on the Beach at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer by Vincent Van Gogh

For this month, let's study a painting from Vincent Van Gogh.

When Van Gogh lived in Arles, he took a trip to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer on the Mediterranean sea, where he made several paintings of the seascape and town.

Enjoy!

April Study - The Bathers by Pierre-Auguste Renoir - 1887

Oil on canvas, 46 x 67 in the Philadelphia Museum of Art

This month's study has been suggested by Rochelle Cathey as she stated that she liked its collage of classical human form with the impressionistic background. She also mentioned that it took Renoir 3 years to complete! Well...we have 3 weeks, let's see what we can do! Enjoy and have fun!

Our first entry this month is from Renate Arends from the Netherlands after working on it for 28 hours! A great job too!
